Marketing Your Business on Facebook- Live Chat on 8/20

by Aleeka Kay Edwards on August 16, 2012

Mandie Miller didn’t spend any money on advertising. So, how did this cake baker earn more than $40,000 in annual revenue during her second year in business?

Most of Mandie’s customers order her cakes on Facebook and then pay her when the cake is delivered. She still maintains a website of her own but Mandie is benefiting from “F-commerce,” a new wave of online commerce. F-commerce is the reason why she is a one-person business with more than 5,000 fans. Facebook allows her to live chat with a customer, post her business events to their profile, show them daily pictures of new cake designs, and benefit from fans sharing the “liked” cakes.

Mandie is a former on-air reporter who decided to turn her baking hobby into a full-time profession when she opened “Got What it Cakes.”  Her website showcases her creative goodies which could rival the likes of Cake Boss himself. Included in her batterie de cuisine are pans that she uses to bake everything from a Louis Vuitton handbag cake to… a cake that looks like a cereal bowl filled with Fruit Loops.

Mandie has been featured in The New York Times, CNBC.com, and Redbook Magazine. She’ll talk to you about how she communicates with her customers on Facebook and then she’ll offer tips on making your Facebook “storefront” more dynamic. You’ll also be very surprised to hear how she learned to make all these delectable cakes. Tune in to find out.
