Financial Planning That’s Easy and Affordable: Veritat Review and Giveaway *Closed*

by Sarah Chang on July 9, 2012

My husband and I have never done any traditional financial planning. My mother in law works at a bank and is quite savvy with money, so she’s always advised us on an informal level. But truth be told, it was time for us to talk to someone professional. Now that we have Gemma, I’m more concerned than ever before about having all of our finances organized, and making sure that we have enough health, life and disability insurance. We’re also trying to plan for upcoming big expenses, like college (in the distant future, but still relevant), and buying a house (in the not so distant future, hopefully).

Veritat: Financial Planning That’s Easy

That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to try Veritat Advisors. Veritat Advisors is a full-service financial planning firm. Unlike other firms, however, it’s incredibly affordable (around $40 for a family per month), and meetings can be conducted online or in person.

I signed up for my initial assessment, which included questions on our family income and debt (ballpark figures). Veritat even asked about things like life and disability insurance, and whether or not we have a will. After completing my assessment I scheduled an appointment for 7:15pm with Tom Mooney, our planner. I had to reschedule twice due to work issues with my husband and am pleased to say it was completely headache free.

Our Financial Planning Assessment: My Experience

The day of our assessment Jerry and I had the option of signing in from opposite computers, although we were both at home and decided to sign in from the same laptop. We were able to see Tom Mooney through the screen. He was personable and friendly, and was able to discuss our financial situation and future goals in a broad sense. My husband is a surgeon, so we need to have really good disability coverage. Tom was well versed in these issues, as well, which I appreciated.

Our next step is to join comprehensive planning. This means that Tom will be able to take a more in-depth look at our finances and provide more directed advice. Is it nerdy to say I can’t wait?

Overall, I was thoroughly pleased with Veritat Advisors. It’s a great option for my family; it’s affordable, convenient, and easy. Financial Experts such as Manisha Thakor stress how important it is to consult a professional financial planner. If you’re looking for an option that will work for your family in terms of expense and time I would highly recommend Veritat Advisors.
