Probably five minutes ago, right?
Whether we’re truly busier today than we ever have been before – or there’s just more to distract us – time management has become a critical skill for women to master. As Elle Kaplan, CEO and Founding Partner of LexION Capital Management, explains, “Your time is the most valuable resource you have at your disposal. It should be working for you: structured to maximize efficiency and yield the greatest possible return.”
But running at peak efficiency and optimizing every moment is much easier said than done. So we chatted with a number of female business owners, entrepreneurs, and freelancers to gather their best time management tips for you can use to accomplish more with less time every day.
“Plan tomorrow’s work today. Knowing what I am supposed to accomplish in the day to move my business forward focuses my mind right when I wake up and even helps get me out of bed. “Make a to-do list for the week. As you work your way through it, track the time it takes to complete each task as you check items off the list. Use this information to identify problem patterns. Once you find the patterns, you can create routines to patch those leaks of time.” – Elle Kaplan

“We use Trello inside Indira, and now I have a personal Trello board as well. “Know your energy level, and tie it to your work. If it is a time of day when you are high energy, don’t waste it skimming emails. If you have a 3pm energy slump, use that for low-effort tasks (and take a walk, stretch, hydrate and snack!).” – Susan Karyn Lasky
